Gambia
The first project we co-ordinated in the Gambia was a water project near the capital. The Sanchaba Sulay Jobe Lower School was desperately short of water, as were the local community. We helped them install a new borehole, a new electric motor and three water tanks, together with an external tap, that local people could also access.
Our second project was installing a new well in the town of Bansang, some 150 miles inland. The town has a permanent population of about 12,000 that almost doubles at certain times of the year. With temperatures reaching 50 degrees, water is scarce and this well became one of only 12 in the whole town.
