Gambia School Aid Update

back...

These photos show how work progressed on the new well in the school grounds in Banjul, Gambia. Initially a hole was dug and a concrete sleeve inserted into the ground (right).

Further digging was then undertaken and progressively smaller concrete rings were lowered into the cavity.

The water table was reached after 16 meters, but they are digging down a further 6 metres (don’t ask me how!) in order to guarantee they have water even in the dry season.

Children from the school use the water to irrigate the plants they grow that will be used to make their meals.
