Nigeria (2000-2007)
|
In Nigeria, we opted to work with a local organisation that was repairing old hand pumps rather than installing new. The benefit was a $1,400 dollar saving for each pump. The pumps were of a simple manufacture and local village level operation and maintenance (VLOM) was crucial. We worked in the north western state of Kebbi, and helped to repair over fifty much needed hand pumps. This benefitted over 15,000 people – at a fraction of the full price cost. |
